Qualification

36 athletes will qualify for the final steps as follows:

A: Top 23 from the general standing

B: Top 2 from a separete standing including squad 14-17

C: The highest scoring athlete from squad 12-13

D: Top 2 from a separete standing including squad 8-11

E: Top 2 from a separete standing including squad 5-7

F: Top 2 from a separete standing including squad 1-4

G: Top 4 from the desperado squad

Athletes are qualified from only one category in the order A-B-C-D-E-F-G

If an athlete is qualified from more than one category, the next positioned athlete in the non-used categories of a multiple qualified athlete, will qualify in his place

Seeding for final steps

Entering final steps

Athletes positioned 1-4 in the general standing are qualified directly for the final step 3

Athletes positioned 5-16 in the general standing are qualified directly for the final step 2

All other qualified athletes are qualified for the final step 1

Final Step 1

20 athletes (positions 17-36) will play 3 games (+handicap), starting from scratch.
Top 8 will go through to Final Step 2.
Ties influencing who will qualify for the next final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken. In all other tie situations in step 1-2, a procedure similar to the procedure for the qualification will be followed.
Movement method: Crossing L-to- L , R-to-R
Number of lanes to move: 4 (two pair)
Non-qualifiers from this stage shall be ranked 25-36 accordingly to their position in the final step 1.

Final Step 2

20 athletes (8 qualifiers from Final Step 1 and positions 5-16) will play 3 games (+handicap), starting from scratch.
Top 12 will go through to Final Step 3.
Ties influencing who will qualify for the next final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken. In all other tie situations in step 1-2, a procedure similar to the procedure for the qualification will be followed.
Movement method: Crossing L-to- L , R-to-R
Number of lanes to move: 4 (two pair)
Non- qualifiers from this stage shall be ranked 17-24 accordingly to their position in the final step 2.

Final Step 3

16 athletes ( 12 qualifiers from Step 2 and positions 1-4), will play 2 games in pairs for total pin fall, including any handicap.
Top 8 athletes will go through to Final Step 4.
In the event of a tie, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.
Non- qualifiers from this stage shall then be ranked 9-16 according to their seeding.

Final step 4

The 8 winning athletes from Final Step 3 will be seeded 1-8 according to their previous seeding and play further 2 games in pairs for total pin fall, including any handicap.
Top 4 athletes will go through Final Step 5.
In the event of a tie, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.
Non-qualifiers from this stage shall be ranked 5-8 according to their seeding.

Final step 5 

There will be 3 one game stepladder matches, all starting from scratch

The athlete with the 4th highest seeding vs. the athlete with the 3rd highest seeding
The looser of the match will be ranked 4
Stepladder match 2
The winner of match 1 vs. the athlete with the 2nd highest seeding
The looser of the match will be ranked 3
Stepladder match 3
The winner of match 2 vs. the athlete with the highest seeding
The looser of the match will be ranked 2

The looser of the match will be ranked 2

The first shall be declared the winner of the Dimitris Karetsos Tournament 2022.

No shows for final steps

Absent athletes for final steps won’t be replaced

Absent athletes will be positioned last in the step of their absence and, if more than one absence, internally ranked according to their qualification positions

Booking policies

Booking restriction before A maximum of two squads can be booked before the tournament starts
Reservations Entry reservations, as well as re-entry reservations, without payment 24 hours before the scheduled squad time, will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Waiting lists will be made, when necessary.

Category

Athletes, who want to compete in the B Category, must, before the tournament starts, be able to present an official letter with a statement from their national federation proving, that their average for the last 12 months, over a minimum of 24 games, is as follows:

For male athletes

Less than 180 for B Bowlers

For female athletes

Less than 170 for B Bowlers

Athletes, who have participated in any national team, are placed in the A Category.

The organizing committee reserve the right to deny a participation in a B category based on previous results in the tournaments organized in the same bowling centre.
